Mastering Scene Memories in Scarab and Ostrich Motion Control Systems

When working with the Scarab and Ostrich motion control systems, the ability to record and recall precise camera positions is essential for smooth and repeatable motion control. These systems allow operators to store up to nine positions (scene memories) that can be recalled at any time. Here’s how to effectively utilize this feature for seamless operation.
To store a position, the operator must press and hold the scene memory button for three seconds. A pop-up screen will appear, prompting the operator to choose which axes should be stored, such as Dolly, Pan, Tilt, Zoom, Focus, Pan Crane, Tilt Crane. Once the required axes are selected, pressing "OK" saves the memory.
To recall a stored position, the operator briefly presses the scene memory button. If the current axes positions match the stored scene memory, the scene memory button will be highlighted with a red surrounding frame. The sliders on the right side of the screen allow fine-tuning of transition speed and acceleration. Movement between stored memories is seamless, as the system automatically calculates the straightest path to the desired position.
The Scarab and Ostrich motion control systems offer high-performance hardware, including programmable Dolly, Pan, Tilt, Zoom, Focus, Pan Crane, Tilt Crane axes. Precision motors with zero backlash ensure ultra-smooth movements, while CNC-machined Dural Aluminum construction provides durability. The system is backed by a one-year warranty and full customer support.
The touch screen controller enhances the user experience with smooth manual operation, expo curves, and movement profiles.
Designed for live events, it supports interchangeable joysticks and pedals. Advanced motion programming enables three programmable sequences with loop, back, and forth modes, as well as nine programmable scene memories. Keyframes with interpolation curves ensure ultra-smooth transitions.
Remote operation is possible through a web-based interface, allowing users to control motion from any modern web browser using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. The system offers reliable communication via a Com Cable up to 300 feet, Fiber Optics up to 3 miles, or a 900MHz Wireless connection up to 1 mile. With smooth manual operation, expo curves, and movement profiles, the system ensures real-time responsiveness, making it ideal for live events.
Mastering scene memories in the Scarab and Ostrich motion control systems enhances workflow efficiency and guarantees precise, repeatable camera movements. Whether used in live events or controlled film sets, these features provide cinematographers and operators with unparalleled motion control capabilities.
